State censorship at the expense of citizens

Translated from Czech Státní cenzura za peníze občanů posted May 23, 2016

May 25, 2016 the Senate will approve the law on gambling, which confers the costs of blocking of illegal Internet games to the Internet service provider.

And the Internet end users will have to pay the price.
The road to hell
(see cesta do pekel) is once again paved with good intentions.

Governmental experiments will be paid by the citizens – by limiting their freedom and their money (just like the electronic records of sales “EET”) (see kontrolního hlášení a elektronické evidence tržeb).

The stumbling block is Section 82. It increases the costs of Internet service providers (they will have to block designated sites, and when they do not manage this perfectly – which is most likely the case – they will have to pay a fine). These costs will translate to a price increase for end users. (see e.g. Zpráva CZ.NIC)

Not everyone will be able to pay for their connections – more people will be dependent on information from television and print media … and this makes people easier to control …

It will be interesting to observe the attitude of politicians to that paragraph:

Section 82 Blocking unauthorized Internet games

(1) Internet providers in the Czech Republic are obliged to restrict access to websites on the list of websites with illegal online gaming (hereinafter „list of illegal internet gambling sites„).

(2) Into the list of illegal online gaming sites will be added the website on which it is operated internet game contrary to § 7 para. 2 section b).

(3) The obligation under paragraph 1 dictates that the ISPs block the site within 15 days of the date of publication of the website mentioned on the list of banned Internet games.
